Carers Week 2021 - We're Celebrating
Carers Week, established by Carers UK 27 years ago, is an annual awareness campaign which takes place to celebrate and recognise the vital contribution made by the UK’s 6.5 million carers. The national charities driving Carers Week 2021 are calling on individuals, services and organisations to do their part in Making Caring Visible and Valued – recognising the contribution made by carers and helping them get the practical, financial and emotional support they need to care for a loved one.
In Croydon, there are an estimated 34,000 carers looking after a family member or friend who has a disability or illness, or who needs extra help as they grow older. The Carers Information Service has been supporting carers for almost 25 years and we continue to reach out to carers in the borough who need our help.
Until restrictions are eased, we are unable to open the Carers Support Centre to the public. However, we have a packed programme of free activities delivered online and are still available for advice, information and support over the phone on 020 8649 9339, option 1 and by email using carersinfo.org.uk.
We also have £25 gift vouchers to give away to the top three entrants of our Making Caring Visible & Valued competition. Just send us a selfie - it could be silly or serious, include the person you care for or just you, demonstrate some of the things your caring role involves or just something abstract that reflects your feelings. It's completely up to you. It's also up to you if you want these to be shared or not. Send us your entry by Friday 11 June to email@example.com and we'll notify the top three winners on Sunday 13 June to round off Carers Week.
Read our Carers Week ebulletin to find out how you can get involved.
